Weekend Masterclass

Live from the City of Music, Vienna, Austria

On Saturday, May 25 and Sunday, May 26, I'll teach a live masterclass from my studio in Vienna.

This weekend's masterclass will be dedicated to one of the most important topics in learning the instrument. In this class, we'll demystify one of the biggest challenges piano learners of all levels face: the art of fingering.

This class is free to Key-Notes members. Non-members will have an opportunity to apply their masterclass tuition toward their membership!

DAY 1

Principles of Piano Fingering

Step 1 in learning any new piece is fingering. If you get the fingering right, you'll be positioned to play with maximum ease and beauty.

DAY 2

Fingering and Learning

How can you improve your musical memory through fingering? In today's session, we'll make learning music easier by applying the principles of fingering.

YOUR TEACHER

Albert Frantz

Albert Frantz’s story is unique in the classical music world. Unlike most piano virtuosos, whose rigorous training starts in early childhood, Albert began his music study as a young adult. His interest in music quickly became an all-consuming passion. Progressing rapidly through his college years, he won local, state and national piano competitions and received a Fulbright Fellowship to continue his studies in Vienna, where he was mentored by the renowned pianist Paul Badura-Skoda (1927–2019).

Since then, Albert’s mastery of some of the piano’s most challenging repertoire has attracted international attention—including an official jury nomination for the German Record Critics’ Award for his debut recording of the virtuosic music of Charles-Valentin Alkan. The remarkable story of his musical life has inspired a film documentary for Dreama TV and a cover story for Toastmaster Magazine in 142 countries.

In November 2024, Albert will perform the Concert for Children's Rights at Vienna's City Hall, together with the Vienna Boys' Choir and Vienna Girls' Choir.

Now Albert shares his experience and insights with Key-Notes, a rapidly growing online community of adult piano students.

"A journey of wonderment and sheer enjoyment."
